About Hillsboro Shute Park Branch
History
The first Hillsboro Public Library was built in 1914 on donated land with a grant from the Carnegie Foundation. The library outgrew its facility, and thanks to the efforts of a Friends of the Library group formed in 1968, and a bond levy for construction approved by local voters in 1973, a new 15,000 square foot Hillsboro Public Library opened its doors in 1975, in Shute Park. Hillsboro's new Main Library opened in 2007 on Brookwood Parkway.
