The library was founded in 1935, became a department of the city of Sherwood in 1969 and joined WCCLS in 1976. It has been in its current location since 2005.
Each of the 16 WCCLS libraries are individually governed – by either a city, Washington County, or a nonprofit board. Sherwood is a city library.
A Community Room is available at Sherwood Sherwood Police Department for reservation during business hours (Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm) to governmental, intergovernmental and not-for-profit organizations when not needed for City activities. See www.sherwoodoregon.gov/CommunityRooms.
